MASS!!! MASS!!! MASS!!! This is something that all Vijay fans expect from every movie and Vijay has indeed satisfied all the fans with his latest release Vettaikaaran. Vijay's 49th is sure to reach places and set the bells ringing at the box office. As usual Vijay has successfully entertained his fans and everyone from the theatre left satisfied except a few and you can guess who they are. On the Cast: Vijay plays Police Ravi, an aspiring youth who wants to become a police officer. His inspiration is the work done by Devaraj IPS played by Sri Hari. Vijay plays a college student who follows the paths of Devaraj to become a successful police officer. He studies in the same college and drives an auto to make his living as Devaraj did. Vijay played the role of Police Ravi very well. The first half he could maintain the humor and in the later part of the movie he turns aggressive and bashes up the baddies in their style. We all know that Vijay never disappoints and the same applies here too. Vijay's screen presence makes the movie even more engaging and interesting. A scene that will remain in the minds of the viewers is when when Vijay says, "Ungaluku oru payan irundha dhariyama anupi veipinga illa?". This is where we could see Vijay at his best and a scene with Villan where he replicates Pokkiri made the fans stand on their feet and whistle. Vijay has always been a great dancer but in Vettaikaaran he has concentrated more on acting and stunts and not on dance. Although the dance in En Uchimandaile was great with a lot of flooring done by Vijay, Naan adicha needed a little more punch in the dance. Overall an brilliant performance which has hunted the hearts of the viewers. Anushka plays Sushila, Vijay's love interest. Anushka's acting skills were displayed well when she pleads the police and Devaraj to save Vijay's life. Apart from this she will be mostly seen in lovemaking and dance sequences. Anushka has done her job neatly and looks great on screen with controlled glamour. A great relaunch for her. Sanchita Padukone plays Uma, Vijay's friend in college. It is Uma's fathers auto that Vijay drives. Vijay's life takes a turn because of her. So she is an integral part of the movie and has done justice to the very few scenes she appears. Saleem Ghouse as Vedhanayagam plays the role of villain. It is true that experience matters and Saleem Ghouse has given his best with regards to the role and also needs a special mention is his voice modulation. He comes only in the second half of the movie and has proved that he can take care of the role with great ease. The scenes where he takes Vijay for a round and explains about his past and the fear everyone has on him needs a special applause. Ravishankar as Chella is the son of Vedhanayagam and a baddie too in the film. He plays second fiddle to Vedhanayagam but was the lead Villain in the first half. He has done his job decently adding it is the aggressive look that he carried throughout the film. In short the villains were rocking. Sri Hari plays Devaraj, the police officer who inspired Ravi. He is the one of the best police officers in town and an encounter specialist but that worked against him and the baddie did not allow him to live him happily. He had become blind and the way he explains his sorrows to Vijay was good. He too has a role to play in the movie especially in the climax. On the Crew: Is this Babu Sivan's first film? We know that the answer is YES but it is unbelievable. He has donned the role of a director with easy as each and every scene is so perfectly organized and shot. There was continuity always in the movies and the story though the same commercial one needs a gripping screenplay to keep the viewers glued to their seats. Also the songs were correctly placed. Also the dialogues are gripping with a lot of punches. The dialogues between vijay and Saleem Ghouse provides a lot of intensity to the audience. He is surely to go places. Will not be amused if Vijay signs him again to do a movie. Gopinath, director of photography, has done a great job in this movie too. He has donned this role in Ghilli and Kuruvi too and the angles in this movie proves to be really good. A special mention when the camera goes to and fro focussing Vijay in conversation with Tahasildar in the Tahasildar office. Kanal Kannan, the stunt choreographer needs to be applauded for his work. He has worked very hard for the movie and it can be seen on the screen. The last few movies of Vijay had drawn criticism for the stunts but in Vettaikaaran has stolen the limelight. No wonder why Vijay suggested him for the next movie too. The stunts and jumps looks great. Three cheers to Kanal Kannan Lately Vijay Anthony has been giving hit tunes and adding to his kitty is Vettaikaaran. The songs are already Chartbusters(read Vettaikaaran audio review). Watching the songs on screen was a treat and the background scores especially in the action scenes is great. The highlight of the albus when watching it on screen was Puli Urumudhu. This song made the fans to stand up and dance. Also the song was picturised very well. VT Vijayan is the editor of the movie and has done a commendable job. His editing especially in the songs needs a mention. He has been able to maintain the pace of the movie throughout. A movie which is almost 3 hours does not seem so long thanks to the slick editing done by Vijayan. Also special mention from the transitions in the Chinna Thamarai songs that still remains in the eyes even after the scene is over. There were no scenes that looks as if it was out of sorts or misplaced. He has worked along with the director very weel and that can be seen with the outcome of the movie. Verdict: Its time to party guys why waiting for the verdict? The hunter has struck back with a bang and the result is obviously a GREAT HIT. Posted on Dec 19 2009 by Poojith_VFN
